Molli Morris
Molli Morris (b. March 17, 1999, Colorado, USA) is known professionally as Molli Morris, an American director's assistant, and receiving a Master of Fine Arts at Maine Media. After establishing a foundation in the fashion world, Morris catapulted into film, driven by her mission to fuse both disciplines at a distinctly rockstar level.
She resides in Los Angeles, California, where she indulges in the simple pleasures of leathercrafting, the occasional flirtation with wood carving, figure drawing, writing poetry, cooking for her people, and being a beach slug.
As of 2025, Morris remains open to collaborative opportunities across the creative industries.
Early Life
1990s
Molli Morris was born a Pisces in Littleton, Colorado, on March 17, 1999. The middle child of parents Jeff and Tina, Molli has an older brother and a younger brother. Her parents, both raised in a small mountain town, met in their junior year of high school. Her mother hailed from a line of farmers, with a father who ran a cinder block company and a mother who owned a hair salon. Her father's lineage included a park ranger and a church-involved matriarch, making Molli's foray into creative pursuits all but certain.
2000s
While Molli was in elementary school, the family moved to Boston, Massachusetts. She began taking art classes at an elderly neighbor's house. She received praise in a CFDA design competition, for which she was far too young to be eligible. She spent hours reading fashion blogs like Style Rookie, fascinated by the works of Petra Collins, and began a fixation with her dream to return West and live in Marfa, Texas.
2010s/2020s
In high school, Molli doubled down on her art while also serving as student body president. In a formative conversation in Quincy, Massachusetts, she reportedly declared, "It's L.A. or nowhere," solidifying her lifelong commitment to dramatic geography-based ultimatums. Her uniqueness and aim to cultivate one-of-a-kind experiences were evident in her pivotal decision to attend a liberal arts university. While attending a very cold liberal arts college in upstate New York, only twenty minutes south of the Canadian border, Molli contrasted her oil painting adventures in the woods with her time working in luxury fashion at Tory Burch in New York City. In undergrad, she spent the summers accepted and enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design.
Career
Before graduating from college, Molli began her professional journey as a stylist assistant at Tory Burch in New York City. Her initial foray into the world of luxury fashion ended in 2020 with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. After earning her degree from St. Lawrence University in 2021, she followed a creative calling to Marfa, Texas, where she immersed herself in the minimalist art of Donald Judd.
Molli later relocated to Los Angeles, where she began working with stylists and costume designers, including Nancy Steiner. She entered the film world in 2022 with an assistant position at R&D Placement, where she connected with emerging filmmakers. Building momentum, she supported production companies on various treatments and creative projects, contributing to work with studios such as Prettybird, Strike Anywhere, and Group Thrpy. In 2024, she stepped into the role of Director's Assistant, working both on and off set across a range of commercial productions.
By night, she co-directs and animates Life At Night, a documentary series that tells the stories and captures the spaces of those who work while the city sleeps. Outside of filmmaking, she also explores leathercraft—a tactile practice that reconnects her with her first creative passion: fashion.
She hopes to culminate her insight in the fashion and film industries professionally and is excited to continue her creative growth through a Master's in Fine Arts at Maine Media.
